The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently released a crucial public notice concerning the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate programs in 2026. This notice specifically addresses a technical issue that disrupted the examination for a section of candidates on May 30th, 2026, during the first shift (Shift-I).
It has been reported that the CUET (UG) – 2026 examination scheduled for 30.05.2026 (Shift-I) faced significant delays at several examination centers. These delays were attributed to unforeseen technical glitches, which unfortunately impacted the examination process for many aspirants. The NTA has promptly asked M/s TCS, their technology service provider, to conduct a thorough root cause analysis of the glitch and submit an immediate report. This ensures that such issues are addressed proactively for future examinations.
Out of a total of 73,106 candidates who were present and successfully completed their biometric registration across various centers on 30.05.2026 (Shift-I), approximately 95% (69,341 candidates) managed to complete their examination. However, the technical glitch caused delays, and regrettably, 3,765 candidates could not wait for the examination to resume after the disruption. These candidates, despite being present and registered, had to leave their respective examination centers without appearing for the test.
Recognizing the challenges faced by these 3,765 candidates, the NTA has decided to provide a one-time opportunity for them to appear in a rescheduled examination. This measure is a fair and equitable approach to ensure that these students are not penalized due to technical shortcomings beyond their control. The exact date and other essential details for this rescheduled examination will be communicated separately through official NTA channels.
The CUET (UG) is a pivotal examination for students aspiring to gain admission into a vast number of central, state, and other participating universities across India. By appearing for CUET, you open doors to prestigious institutions like Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, and many more. Success in CUET can pave the way for a bright academic future and diverse career opportunities in fields ranging from humanities and sciences to commerce and professional courses. This exam is designed to assess a candidate's aptitude and knowledge across various domains, making it a comprehensive measure for university admissions.
This section pertains to the original application process for CUET (UG) – 2026, not the rescheduling process.
