The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a highly critical public notice regarding the JEE (Main) 2026 Session-1 and Session-2 for Paper-1 (B.E/ B. Tech) on 23 April 2026. In an effort to enhance absolute transparency and maintain administrative integrity in the national-level engineering entrance examination, the NTA has made the comprehensive date-wise, shift-wise, gender-wise, and category-wise candidate scheduling distribution data public.
According to NTA guidelines, candidates were randomly assigned to different shifts based on their chosen city preferences. High priority was given to PwD and female candidates in allocating their first-choice exam city. The data released shows a highly uniform distribution of candidates across different genders and social categories across both sessions and multiple shifts, eliminating systematic bias.
Notably, the public notice highlights the adjustments made on account of the Saraswati Puja festival on 23 January 2026. Following candidate requests for rescheduling, exams scheduled on 23 January 2026 (Shift-1 and Shift-2) were successfully rescheduled to 24 January 2026 and 28 January 2026 across different shifts. NTA has also published the complete raw-score percentile calculation sheets to showcase candidate progress with ultimate transparency.
